LITERARY CONTESTS

Andrée Ruffo’s Fund

Reading-writing with the use of the computer including the assistance with the home works: this activity consists, for the young person, to choose a topic suggested and validated by volunteer teachers, such as for example:

·         "The violence at the school", how appear? What are its consequences? How does one have to behave in front it? What do you propose as solutions to decrease violence in the schools?

  • Or: "Is it important respecting his teachers?" Why? How does the respect have to appear? What are the benefits of this attitude?

  • The newspaper or learning to read, write and organize its thought without constraints is what the young person will produce at the end of line with the assistance of the volunteer teachers. The ideas and the personality of the young are respected. We do nothing but accompany it. This will improve his reading, his writing, his orthography, his grammar, etc, without he perceived that like home works.

  • The writings selected will be published in the local newspaper and will be distributed in all the primary schools and secondary of the district.

  • The multiple goals are to help the young people to exteriorize what worries them, to improve their French drafting; and at the same time to incite them with the reading?

    • To protect our young journalists, they will not sign their articles by their real name but pseudonyms

    • The authors of the 5 best articles retained by a formed committee of volunteer teachers will be received by the president of the district at the time of a ceremony. Then by the Mayor of Montreal.

    • The 5 best articles could receive small grants of encouragement and recognition of the efforts made. These purses can be small sums going from 100 to 1 000 $. They can also be goods of purchase given by our partner for the next re-opening of school.

    • The best of the 5 will be published in the district's newspaper.
