AN ORGANIZATION THAT WANTS TO "LEAD DIFFERENTLY"

 

 

In 2003, a young man, helped of some friends of Montreal-North, decides to set up, the "Program Sport-School", and which proposes extra-curricular activities with the young people from 6 to 16, with an aim of developing their individual and collective abilities and by the way, improving their quality of life. With this intention, it proposes sports activities after the school integrating the assistance into the school difficulties. The organization supports also the social integration of the intellectual defective young people by twinning them with the young people known as "regular" by sports activities.

 

Its mission of framing, training and supporting the young people from 6 to 16 years, also aims at making them to deal with adults positively significant. The latter help the young people to remain concentrated at the school by sports activities. The organization which is at its fourth year, frames 206 young people and wants to contribute in this manner to fight against school unhooking.

 

The activities suggested to the young people are mainly

  • assistance with the school duties and other difficulties
  • literary contests
  • does tournaments of soccer, basketball and dance aerobic
  • marathons health

 

All the activities suggested to the young people are free and mainly financed by the founder of the organization and some members. The organization which doesn't receive any subsidy of operation counts already several achievements, in particular

  • Marathon health-Marathon family since 2004
  • Stimulation and motricity reinforced in defective children by twinning since 2004
  • 3 tournaments of soccer, 1 tournament of basketball in August and September since 2005
  • Week-end school since 2007
  • Intergenerational Olympiads in September 2009
  • Recognition of engagement studied with the International school Henri-Bourassa in 2005 programs
  • An amount of 1 250 $ was distributed out of purses and price of encouragement in 2009

Its dynamic board of directors is composed of 7 people. These last delegated the daily management of the operations to Mr Oscar Elimby, who is also the founder of the organization. The general direction is supported by a permanent group composed of a planner of activities, voluntary teachers and parents.

 

As it is of primary importance to have a good financial support in order to be able to achieve our goals, we request your support. You could thus benefit from one visibility on a local and provincial scale near a few thousands of young people and their families.

 

At the time of an interview with the local newspaper, the journalist asked Mr. Elimby why the name Mener Autrement He replied: The young people want to lead, we want to help them to satisfy their desire of "leading"; not in the street but, but at the school. We want to help them to become positive leaders. If we succeed with only one, two or three, it will be already that. It is a dream, but we do believe in it ".
